One would assume that like pre-paid phone cards, they are not activated until you buy them. - Comments on Wal-Mart Gift cards get hacked
Who the hell would give WALMART gift certificates as a gift anyway?
And why would anyone support WALMART? In the future all restaurants will be Taco Bell, all shops will be Walmart, and you hope to god your kids can make door greeter to suppliment their welfare checks.
Shopping at Walmart is a horrific experience. The families of 9 people block every possible route to where I need to go. And they aren't even shopping, they just stand there. And god help me if, when I try to squeeze by, I actually touch their cart or themselves... I get the horrid look of death. All to save 70 cents on the latest PowerPuff DVD? I think not. - Comments on Wal-Mart Gift cards get hacked

A few days back, Wal-mart got rid of all the old gift cards, and sent in new cards with a different number series and a different way to activate them.
They specifically trashed all the old ones. I would assume that that move was in relation to this incident.
On a side note, I am looking for another job. - Comments on Wal-Mart Gift cards get hacked
Of all the places to have a problem you would just expect Walmart to be the one that actually screws up. It's obvious that someone in that store is doing something wonky, so they need to screen each and everyone. Heck, if I was doing that and I was suddenly told I was going to be interviewed I would be scared shitless and quit before it happend. Good thing I don't work at walmart, I would probably find something more devious to do than hack gift cards. - Comments on Wal-Mart Gift cards get hacked
They said it had already been used at the cashier. I called the number on the back of the card and they said it had already been used too. They said I had to deal with the credit card that paid for it, but my mother got it for me right before she passed away 3 weeks ago. Any suggestions on how to get it back? - Comments on Wal-Mart Gift cards get hacked
It happened to us too. We lost $20.00.
