Sinthu's Consumer Blog!
Bloggin'& Consuming...

  • The last day

Well, I'd like to say that I ended the last day with a "go all out" splurge of consuming, however, the only thing I consumed today was lunch at Coff. again, pizza & vitamin water: about $5 (can't remember the exact amount and I didn't get a reciept).

    That's it.

    The end. :)

  • One day left!!

Today I bought late lunch/early dinner at Arby's, on the way home from school: $6.59
That was kind of a rip for what I got - I realize why I don't go there more often.

  • Trip to the store again

Went to Cub to pick up some stuff: $15.16

Bought lunch at Burger King: $5.63

  • Untitled

Filled up the tank today: $31.26

Had to watch the Oscars today for an extra credit paper in Mass Media/Pop Culture.

  • We rocked at basketball (kind of)

I got together with some of my friends in high school that I haven't seen in almost 2 years. We went out to eat at Friday's in Maple Grove: $10.89 (with tip!)

Then it was onto Dave and Busters, or D&B, where we could act like we were 12 year olds at Chuck E Cheese again, playing arcade games for tickets that get you little trinkets that end up falling apart in 2 minutes...

Anyways, it was a good time (we were especially good at the basketball & trivia game!): $30
Yup, that's 30 bucks spent on playing games...

Of course, they have a bar there, which means we took some breaks and bought some drinks -
    D&B Mixed Drinks -
    The Shizzle: $5.50
    Banana Split: $6.10

    Plus I tipped: $1.00

The gaming/fun-ness went on until the wee hours of the night, until it was today, sunday morning, so even though it all happened Saturday, I'm technically authoring this on Sunday...

  • Feeling creative...

Today it was a tall coffee drink at Starbucks on my way out off campus: $3.60

I went to Blick to pick up some stuff for a project in my class, and ended up buying some other art supplies as well, because I was feeling creative: $29.59

  • My Splurchase!

I made my splurchase today even though I almost forgot (whoops!)

It happened at Rainbow - it was a Caribou Vanilla Iced Coffee beverage: $1.99
I paid with $2, got a penny back.
Bought some other stuff too, but thought the splurchase needed its own little blog thing.

  • It's Friday!

I need to think of more creative titles...

Today, I was supposed to have class at 8:30 but it was cancelled. I wish I checked my email at 7:00 in the morning before driving all the way down to school, taking the campus connector and walking in the cold to Wilson library where class was, only to wait 15 minutes to find a note being posted on the door saying that class would not be held today.

Anyway, I thought I would get breakfast, so I went to McDonalds and got some with a small orange juice. It wasn't that great, but it cost me: $4.78

I went home to find out my wireless router was not working (which meant I wouldn't have been able to check my mail out at 7 anyways...) so I went to (guess where!) TARGET to buy one & picked up some batteries too: $50.03

I was supposed to make dinner tonight, so I went back to the grocery store: $55.36

I noticed that whenever I go to Cub, I usually end up going to Target as well and vice versa, but I pretty much thought that was because they are close in proximity, so since I'm already there, I thought I'd get two things done... (Like buy fresh veggies and laundry detergent) Too bad it's not a SUPERtarget otherwise I could just make one stop...

  • Valentine's Day

The consuming started off with me buying lunch at Coffman again, slice of cheese pizza, vitamin water & sunchips: $5.86

I parked in the hourly pay lot in the ramp behind coffman: $5.50

I needed to meet up with my partner in travels with type to go over a project we're going, so I thought it would be easier to drive from minneapolis (as we were meeting at Caribou on Washington) rather than take the campus connector back to st. paul and drive out back to minneapolis.

  • ... and ended at the discount liquor store

I went to Barnes and Noble to find the recipe book I was looking for and (SUCCESS!), I found it: $26.63

A little steep, but I used a VISA gift card I got for my birthday, and it was worth it (I was sure), so I picked it up and read the recipe for traditional vanilla cupcakes and chocolate buttercream icing. I needed to go buy these things at the grocery store, so I went to Cub: $25.89

Luckily I already had some of these ingredients. After going to the grocery store, I went to pick up lunch at Chipotle: $6.07

After that, I remembered I wanted to pick up some wine, so I bought a couple of bottles at the discount liquor store near my house: $34.15

And THAT was the end of my high consuming day. I made about 37 cupcakes - one dozen for work and the rest to share with some friends and myself. They were awesome.

  • It all started with cupcakes...

On the consuming side of things, I had a pretty big day. A lot of this had to do with the combination of boredom and running errands, mixed with sudden ideas and impulse.

It all started at Target. I seem to go to that store a lot when I need something, or when I'm bored (yes, I shop at target when I'm bored, which usually ends up with me buying something trivial and unnecessary - but it's better than shopping at the mall because I'd buy way more) - and I found some things on clearance (75% off!).

It's a day before Valentine's day, so the greeting card and seasonal aisles were PACKED (talk about slackers...tsk tsk...) which made me run into the valentine's baking section where they have boxes of cake mix and decorative little things you can put on them, heart cookie cutters and so forth... this peaked my interest primarily because I LOVE to bake things (and my friends and coworkers know this very well, I usually bring something for them every couple of weeks) - but I don't like baking from pre-made mixes, which made me think of these amazing cupcakes I had in NYC a month ago from a place called Magnolia Bakery.

I remembered they had a recipe book out, but I didn't know if it was exclusive to the store, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to go check out the bookstore, so I bought my things from target: $15.58

And went in search of the book...

  • Uneventful day...

Today was pretty uneventful in terms of consuming. Today was my late class, so I bought lunch as usual on campus: $4.89

    Accidentally threw away the box.

Oh yeah, and I finally paid my tuition: $ a ridiculous amount of $

  • Monday the 11th

Bought coffee today after class (to stay awake the rest of the day): $4.15

    That's pretty much it.

  • Still cold but life resumes...

Yes, it's still VERY cold, but I had to go out to take some pics for my class, so I bundled up with about 5 layers of clothes and went out. I figured since I was already going out, I thought I might as well run to target and get some things I needed.

    That trip cost me: $48.50

And that total was AFTER I used a $20 giftcard, but since I only payed the $48.50 out of my pocket, that's what I'm putting down! It was a SUPERTarget, so I bought a combo of groceries and other stuff.

Cold weather will not stand in the way of my consuming!!! (Except yesterday...that was terrible)

  • TOO COLD TO DO ANYTHING.

Yeah, the title pretty much says it all.
    TOO COLD. NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Which means, lucky for me & the blog, I'll be inside watching TV (and watching TV online) & reading & stuff like that, so consuming on the media related stuff will definitely rise today.
